UGC has released a notification to invite NET Online Application form2014 for the recruitment of Junior Research Fellow and Assistant professor through National Eligibility Test (NET). Willing applicants may apply before last date.
Dynamic applicants should hold this opportunity and apply to appear in NET by filling online application form from the official website before May 05, 2014 and send the print out of the form to prescribed address before 15th May 2014.

Eligibility Criteria for UGC NET 2014:
Qualification:

• Candidates should have Masters Degree with minimum 55 % marks from any recognized University.
• Relaxation in percentage will be given as per the Govt. norms.

Age Limitations:

• For the Junior Research Fellowship, age limit of applicants should be below 28 years.
• There is no upper age limitation for the post of Assistant Professor.
• Age relaxation for the reserved category will be as per the Govt. Rules.

Examination Fee

• For General Candidates- Rs.450/-
• For OBC candidates- Rs.225/-
• For SC / ST / PWD candidates- Rs.110/-

Mode of Payment:
Aspirants should pay examination fee in the form of Challan at any branch of State Bank of India (SBI) along with Bank charges (commission) of Rs.40/-
Selection Process
Selection of the applicants will be based on written test.

• Candidates should fill the online application form in an appropriate manner.
• Upload scanned recent passport size photograph and signature, pay the required fees through the Challan and submit it.

Pondicherry University vice-chancellor nominates 'tainted' faculty as member of planning board , Ph 078-380-243-65

PUDUCHERRY: In blatant violation of the Pondicherry University Act, vice-chancellor Chandra Krishnamurthy has nominated an ineligible and tainted faculty member, who was booked by the CBI and police on various charges, as member of the planning board.

In an order dated May 15 this year, Chandra Krishnamurthy nominated director (academic staff college) S Hariharan as the member of planning board, violating the Pondicherry University Act 1985 and varsity statutes. According to the Act and statutes, the planning board must comprise the vice chancellor, all directors (as stipulated by statute 3), two nominees of the chancellor (vice-president of India), five members of the academic council nominated by the vice-chancellor and two officers of the university, nominated by the vice-chancellor.

The vice-chancellor nominated Hariharan, invoking clause 15 (1) (e) of the Pondicherry University Act and statutes, which clearly mandates that two officers of the university be appointed as members of the board. The act and statutes also clearly list out the officers in the university. According to section 11 of the act, the officers of the university are the chancellor, vice-chancellor, director (studies, educational innovations and rural reconstruction), director (culture and cultural relations), director (physical education, sports, national service and students' welfare), deans of schools, the registrar and the finance officer.

The Act does not declare director (academic staff college) as an officer of the university and the vice-chancellor's decision to appoint Hariharan (declaring him as an officer) came as a rude shock to senior faculty members, academicians and students alike. The appointment cannot be made unless the statute is amended and the visitor (president of India) gives assent and the parliament approves the amendment.

Registrar in-charge V Indumathi issued the order appointing Hariharan while registrar (Raajiv Yaduvanshi) was away on poll duty. When contacted, Indumathi declined to comment. "I don't want to comment anything on the issue. Today is a holiday. Media of late has been writing a lot of unverified things against the university," she said.

Since the inception of the university, the registrar and finance officer have been the two officers periodically nominated to the planning board by different vice-chancellors, adhering to the norms laid down by the statutes and the convention followed in all central universities. Now either the registrar or finance officer has to be removed from the board to accommodate Hariharan. This will be the first time since the inception of university in 1985 that neither the registrar nor finance officer are part of the planning board.

Hariharan was booked by the CBI on charges of giving university affiliation to an engineering college violating all regulations. He was also booked by Puducherry police in April this year on charges of assaulting and wrongfully confining a student in an attempt to force him to admit to a crime he did not commit.

Surprisingly, the very next month he was appointed as the coordinator for the University Grant Commission - National Eligibility Test (UGC-NET) examination 2014 and a member of the planning board.
